  • Construction of new bridge over Rideau River to link Donald Street and Somerset Street East;
  • Provision of pedestrian and bicycle routes;

Project Description

  • Tomlinson involved in planning of new bridge
  • Completed in just 16 months – 6 months ahead of schedule despite the challenges of working in the water
  • Completed on budget
  • Pre-testing of concrete to highlight potential flaws – led to a higher quality material and a reduction in disruption
  • Installation of 3 metal spans across the river from the east side in Overbrook to the Sandy Hill shoreline on the west side
  • Installation of 2 mid-river piers to support the spans
  • Surfacing, including new connections to the multi-use pathways
