Tomlinson Family Foundation Raises $241,000 from Slo-Pitch Tournament
OTTAWA, The Tomlinson Family Foundation held its second annual Slo-Pitch tournament on September 16, 2017. With the help of over fifty corporate sponsors, as well as Tomlinson employees, partners and customers, the event raised $120,677. These donations were matched 100% by the Tomlinson Family Foundation, making a grand total of $241,000 being donated to various charities within the city. This year the organizers arranged a competitive and recreation division. The Greenbelt Gongshow took first place in competitive and The Hellcats won the recreation division. It was a fun-filled day for all ages with sixteen teams playing games throughout the day. Players start the day doing yoga stretch. The younger guests enjoyed face paints and inflatables. There was also a barbeque lunch and refreshments donated by Beau’s Brewing Company.
“We were delighted with the involvement and funds raised at our second softball tournament,” said Cindy Tomlinson Keon, Executive Vice President, R.W. Tomlinson Limited and President of the Tomlinson Family Foundation. “As a foundation, our goal is to support organizations who serve the needs of our community, and we aim to do that by encouraging participation from employees, suppliers, service providers and other organizations and individuals with whom we work. The Slo-pitch tournament is an excellent example of that principle in action. We know that the $ 241,000 we’re donating will make a huge difference in the lives of many people in our city. Thank you to the volunteers and participants of this year’s tournament. We’re looking forward to another successful event next year!”
