Highway 416 Rehabilitation
About the Project
Our team is delivering a major rehabilitation of the Highway 416 corridor between Ottawa and Spencerville for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO).
The ambitious project involves a comprehensive range of work above and below the highway, including infrastructure rehabilitation, paving and structural improvements designed to improve the safety, performance and long-term reliability of this important transportation corridor.
What We Delivered
Our scope includes five bridge rehabilitations, eight culvert replacements, sixteen culvert cleanouts, paving the Bankfield and Hunt Club interchanges, and replacing thirty-six structural signs.
As work moves toward completion, our team continues to coordinate multiple work fronts while maintaining the high safety and quality standards required on a major provincial highway.
Innovation
One of the project’s biggest challenges came at Spencerville, where the original plan called for an 80-hour closure of the northbound lanes of Highway 416.
Working with the customer, our partners and subcontractors, the team developed a plan to complete the work within a significantly shorter window. The closure was successfully completed in approximately 78 hours—six additional scope items were delivered within that timeframe while maintaining safety and quality standards.
The accelerated closure demonstrated what strong planning, coordination and teamwork can accomplish when schedule constraints and additional scope need to be managed together.
Impact
The Highway 416 project is renewing critical infrastructure along an important transportation route connecting Ottawa with communities to the south.
With two of the bridge rehabilitations already completed and the remaining three scheduled to finish later this year, the work will provide safer, more reliable infrastructure and help keep people and goods moving across the region for years to come.
