R.W. Tomlinson is committed to constantly striving to improve our products, services and employees. In order to encourage employees to fully develop their potential, we are continuing to develop an employee training program. We have recently partnered with the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University to provide a series of seminars, courses and workshops. These courses are being specifically developed for R.W. Tomlinson Limited and its employees. The management team will be participating in these sessions in early 2008 and will be looking to expand this program in the up coming years.
R.W. Tomlinson Limited is a supporter of O.R.B.A. (Ontario Road Builders Association), Road Building Academy. These courses are once again specifically designed for our industry and are all Gold Seal Certified. R.W. Tomlinson Limited has a significant number of Gold Seal Certified employees and we are providing training to increase our commitment.
In conjunction with all of our major equipment and plant suppliers, we have made arrangements for them to provide ongoing maintenance and job specific training. These long term relationships allow our employees to stay current with any technological advances and to refresh their knowledge on a vast array of plants and equipment.
Through our Health and Safety department, R.W. Tomlinson provides employees with on going training and instruction in WHMIS, Fall Protection, Traffic Control, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Forklift, Aerial Manlift, Chainsaw Safety, Confined Spaces, Propane Construction, Respirators, Common Core and First Aid. In all we provide approx 3,000 hours of health and safety training every year in order to meet our obligations under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the applicable Regulations. We encourage our employees to be actively involved in health and safety training to ensure we provide the safest work environment possible.
